How You Can Support Rural NSW

As you are probably aware, rural NSW is in the grips of a devastating drought that has been going on now for 3 years.  On top of that, catastrophic bush fires are now rampaging throughout the state. We are often asked how you can really help the many, many families and communities affected by these conditions.

From our perspective, and it will be similar for other rural businesses, every time you savour a sip of our wines and enjoy it with a meal with family and friends, you are not only supporting our family-owned business…you are supporting an entire rural community of over 100 talented family-owned businesses that supply us with the skills, services, goods and support that enable us to produce that beautiful drop of wine you are savouring 😍. So, on behalf of the De Beaurepaire Wines business community, their teams and their families, THANK YOU for choosing to drink our wine…we are all so proud of what we do, and it is immensely gratifying when others think so too🥂

There are several very positive ways that you can make a difference!

Buy from the bush: rather than buying your Christmas gifts and supplies from one of the big chains, why not buy from the bush! With national transport infrastructure and online shopping, it really couldn’t be easier to pop online, buy direct from the producers, and they’ll ship it to your door.

1.The NSW government has put together a wonderful website with suppliers from all over regional NSW that you can search and select from

2.On social media you can search the following hashtags: #buyregional and #buyfromthebush

Stay in the bush: why not spend your next holiday or a weekend away in rural NSW? Stay in the local accommodation, buy a coffee in the local cafe, buy gifts from the local stores, visit the local butchers/bakers, and most importantly, buy direct from the producers. This way all the money goes to the families who really need it (& they’ll spend it in the rural communities with the goods and services they buy, and people they employ), and you’ll enjoy outstanding quality and produce you won’t find in your local shops, as well as some truly fun and memorable experiences

1.For our region, visit the Mudgee Region website for ideas on places to stay and things to do; or read our Rylstone travel blog for where to stay, what do and see in and around us

2. On social media you can search and select from the following hashtag #stayinthebush

Donate to the NSW Rural Fire Service: The NSW RFS is widely acknowledged as the largest volunteer fire service in the world. Their volunteers provide fire and emergency services to approximately 95% of NSW. These amazing volunteers do, and especially are doing right now a truly outstanding job in extraordinarily difficult conditions.  They do this over and above their day jobs, often spending extended periods of time away from their families, and with very little sleep.

1.NSW Rural Fire Service Brigades and Donations Fund is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission and, like many of its brigades, holds Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status which makes any donation received over $2.00 tax deductible.

2.You can make a donation, in support of their volunteers, by visiting their donations page.
