2008 'Captain Starlight' Merlot Cabernet Petit Verdot

The Captain Starlight wine series was created to trial different wine styles and approaches in the lead up to the release of our Heritage series. Effectively this wine is the precursor of the 'Le Chevalier'. This wine is a blend of three classic Bordeaux varieties - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Merlot for middle palate and depth, Cabernet for structure, brightness and acid and Petit Verdot for colour and intensity. Vibrant colour with purple hues and aromas of ripe berry and blackcurrant. Very long palate with chocolate and spice characters and integrated oak. Balanced tannin finish. It is now over 15 years old, and all the beautiful tertiary aromas are abundant and it's oh so very smooth with the tannins fully resolved, yet still the wine remains alive thanks to early high acidity, great quality fruit and the use of oak in its élevage.
