2022 ‘Sophie’ Blanc de Noirs (New Wine)
A strikingly expressive sparkling made entirely from Pinot Noir (Blanc de Noirs), capturing the richness and finesse of the variety. Delicate notes of wild strawberries, baked red apples, and rich almond croissant unfold over a finely beaded mousse. The palate is taut and structured, balancing red fruit vibrancy with a subtle, toasty complexity. A testament to patience and precision in Méthode Traditionnelle winemaking.
Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir (Blanc de Noirs)
TASTING NOTES
A celebration of elegance and finesse, Sophie is a Blanc de Noirs that embodies purity and poise. Delicate yet structured, this sparkling wine showcases a luminous pale gold hue with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is an enticing bouquet of wild strawberries, fresh brioche, and crushed redcurrants, intertwined with hints of hazelnut and citrus zest.
On the palate, a vibrant acidity and creamy mousse create a harmonious tension. Notes of white peach, raspberry, and baked apple are layered with subtle toasty undertones, finishing with a long, mineral-driven freshness that speaks to our cool-climate terroir. A testament to precision and patience, Sophie is both an homage to tradition and a reflection of the future.
Vintage Conditions:
A relatively cool vintage with decent rainfall. Some early frosts reduced yields in early budburst varieties like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The summer was relatively cool, with rainfall ensuring very active canopy management to mitigate disease risks. Another great year for acidity – particularly in sparkling wines.
FOOD PAIRING
A versatile partner for celebrations or refined dining, Sophie pairs beautifully with freshly shucked oysters, salmon crudo, or delicate canapés. Its depth also complements richer dishes such as duck rillettes, soft cheeses, or a classic tarte flambée.
CELLARING POTENTIAL
